Premium Intraocular Lenses

Cataract surgery is the most popular surgery in the world. As such, the technologic advances for cataract surgery are constantly evolving. We here at East West Eye Institute use the most cutting edge technologies in cataract surgery.

One of the most recent advances that we are excited about are premium intraocular lenses (IOL).
Traditional monofocal intraocular lens offer a patient only one distance that they can focus on (either
near or far distance but not both) and also do not correct astigmatism. East West Eye is proud to offer
premium intraocular lenses which make it possible to see both far and near more clearly as well as an
ability to correct astigmatism. These special lenses can also be considered for people with presbyopia
(age-related inability to see near).

Your East West Eye doctor will best assess whether having these special lenses are the best choice for
you as we are one of the leading practices nationwide in premium intraocular lenses.

What are Premium Intraocular Lenses?

These lenses have special technology that imparts different focal points built in the entire lens. They are
also called multifocal lenses and toric lenses. Often times after implant of a premium intraocular lens,
people can stop wearing eyeglasses and contact lenses.

Multifocal IOLs all work to improve intermediate, far, and near distances. Toric IOLs work to eliminate
astigmatism for patients. In the vast majority of patients, after having these special lenses implanted,
patients no longer need to wear corrective lenses to see clearly at any distance. The results are long-
lasting since the lenses are implanted in the eye as part of your cataract surgery.

Premium IOLs tend to work great in conjunction with the other breakthrough technology in cataract
surgery; femtosecond laser cataract surgery. Please click here for more on femtosecond laser (laser cataract surgery).
